“But he that dares not grasp the thorn Should never crave the rose.”
Anne Bronte

“Man is harder than iron, stronger than stone and more fragile than a rose.”
Turkish Proverb

“I once had a rose named after me and I was very flattered. But I was not pleased to read the description in the catalogue: no good in a bed, but fine up against a wall.”
Eleanor Roosevelt

Ok so I know I shouldn't show off, and I cannot take any credit for these since they started blooming as we were moving in, but aren't they gorgeous.  I have always wanted roses.  I've planted several bushes over the years and haven't had a great deal of success.  So though I have had nothing to do with producing these I am quite happy to show them off.  One of my plans is to grow roses and gerbras, not the old granny kind with the single spiky petals, but the new fancy kind.  Stacks of petals in a multitude of colours.  Well that's my plan anyway.  That and the vegie garden to outdo all vegie gardens.  We have poisoned the myriad of weeds that are growing in my spot and I hope to get some pics for you, a kind of before and after thing.  Most of it will have to wait until we get back from France in June.  We only have 17 days till we leave.  Realistically not much will happen before then.  A few weeks after we return Ashleigh and Danielle will be moving out.  Boy things are moving and changing around here.  Like I said yesterday seasons are changing.

My friend Gretchen in the states, has been in contact and she is going to be in Paris and on the same tour we are taking. I can't wait to catch up again.

Paris and the Heart of France, 11 days beginning in Paris, seeing the usual sights and then some of our own, on to Bourges, the Loire Valley, Mont St Michael, Bayeux, Giverny and back to gay Paris. I can hardly believe we are spending a month in Paris, this is every girls dream I am sure.  I have just ordered a couple of books to get me inspired, Lunch in Paris, and My French Life.  I just love online shopping.  Don't you?  The excitement of opening packages, nothing beats it truly.  Oh well maybe flying to Paris comes close.

  2. The roses are just gorgeous, I especially love the first one. A month in Paris with your girls. It sounds so wonderful. Enjoy, and all the changes in your life wow. Please take pictures of your veggie garden. I am anxious to see what it will be. ...I have two miniature rose bushes, but have never had any luck with the bigger roses. Take care,

Don't forget to prune your roses when you come home from your holiday. (they should have stopped flowing by then) a good chop back and they'll be blooming next year and you can take the credit :)
