Time to read

This is the beginning of my reading list for 2010.  I have put off reading much over the last couple of years.  And now my hunger is verocious.  I just finished The Road.  Totally different to anything I have ever read before.  And the feeling it left me with, well I was stunned.  Perserverence, love, hope, faith, strength all these are woven through this tale of absolute desolation.  I believe it will be made into a movie and shown this year, not sure how that will translate, I think the book will be much better.

We did a bit of room rearranging on the 1st Jan and now this is the view from my office window.  The reserve across the street is lovely, hares, kangaroos, possums, butterflies it's a delight.  Danielle's car I was going to move it for the shot, but I miss her while she is in Perth so I like to look at it and look forward to her and Ashleigh coming home soon.

A few days ago we took a drive to Brisbane, the capital of Queensland.  We went to the Mt Cootha Botanical gardens, the photos of the plants in my last few postings are taken there.  This is from Mt. Cootha, the skyline of Brisbane City centre and the Brisbane river.  It was rainy, misty and muggy, typical Brisbane humidity.
Coming home to Toowoomba, it rained we so badly need the rain in our dams, the clouds hung low over the range and the drizzle kept on, lovely.

  1. Kim,
Found you on (come sit by my fire). My club read The Road and I saw the movie last week. They actually did a great job with it. Still leaves you stunned but glad I saw it. Good message, I think you will enjoy it.

  2. That is some serious reading. After blogging and photography I have little time left to read books unless they are novels with my daughter. It's one thing I would like to do more of when the kids are less demanding of my time.

Your heat is so different to ours down south. It's a dry heat down here. When I travel to Queensland I'm always taken back by the humidity.

  3. You have great books there!
    I only have read 2.. A Homemade dear!!And A Thousand Splendid Suns..Great..

Have fun with the Photography and Cookbooks too..I like that you liked seeing the car~

  4. Thanks for visiting my blog. Your Grandson is beautiful and my prayers are with you and your family. I wish you happier days to come.

  5. the pile on the left, i have ready everything (in fact own most of them), but everything on the right pile are new. im very curious about the book on the top. i am on the lookout for a good book on digital photography.

  6. Mmmn! Yummy books! I, too, am an avid reader who has had to put the passion somewhat on hold this past year. I love it when people post books they've read--gives me something to look for at the library. Otherwise, I'm like a kid in a candy store who simply can't choose which one, and ends up leaving with what they really don't want after spending hours not being able to make a decision! But maybe that's just me...

Glad to have found your place! Cheers!

  7. Happy New Year, I love that you are getting a chance to read. I have a friend and we go to a bookstore, and she is like me when i get into chocolate. it is great to see peoples different loves. Take care, the photos are beautiful.

  8. I have dreamed of joining a book club... but haven't. Maybe one day. :-)

  9. I've been so busy doing nothing much that I haven't been around to visit my friends in too long. So, though my wishes are late, I mean them with my whole heart. May your year be filled with laughter. May all your surprises be happy ones. May you remember to count your blessings. May you know each day how very much you are loved. Happy new year, my new friend.

Thank you for visiting and leaving me a message it's so good to know you were here.
