This way or that

We all love layering our photographs, playing with textures, recreating a shot, hopefully for the better.  But I wonder if sometimes I don't get a little carried away and layer and adjust and texture and fiddle with nearly every photo I take.  So today I'm asking which one is the better, which one appeals to you more, the shot above pretty much straight from the camera only cropped a tiny bit and with slightly adjusted levels, or
